Pharmacy profession in Goa is the oldest in the Indian subcontinent. The first ever Pharmacy course was introduced along with the medical course in 1842 at the Old Portuguese school known as “Escola Medica de Goa” and later named as “Escola Medica Cirurgica de Goa”.In the year 1963, after liberation of Goa in 1961, the institute was renamed as “GOA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY” and shifted to the present premise which was formerly a Portuguese school.After the formation of Goa University in the year 1985.Goa College of Pharmacy since then is affiliated to Goa University. Goa College of Pharmacy runs under the aegis of Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa. It is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
1. Goa College of Pharmacy ranked 37th among the Pharmacy Colleges across India by National Institutional Ranking Framework Ministry of Human Resource Development Government of India. 2. Goa College of Pharmacy was ranked 23rd in the National Institutional Ranking Framework, a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India to rank all institutions of higher education in India.
