Mission

The mission of the institution is to provide cultural and physical training inputs for building a healthy and viable society through the balanced orientation towards basic and applied sciences with due importance to humanities and social sciences.

History

Mahatma Gandhi College, the institution dedicated to the memory of the Father of the Nation was established in the year 1948 by the legendary social reformer Bharatha Kesari Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan. It is one of the largest and oldest institutions of higher education in the capital city of the state of Kerala run by the largest educational agency of Kerala, the Nair Service Society.
 It has 13 UG, 10 PG, and 7 research programs in the faculties of basic science, humanities, and social sciences.

Highlights

1. A RUSA fund of Two Crores was also awarded to the college for infrastructure development in 2018.

2. The college underwent its third phase of accreditation in 2018 and was awarded a B+ grade with a CGPA of 2.73.
